The First Snow

I got to go home this past weekend. It was a great weekend and I was really glad I got to spend quality time with my family! I missed my plane on Sunday and ended up getting back to Asbury on Tuesday. It was a crazy couple of days but I enjoyed it. :)
This picture is what I was blessed with when I landed in Columbus. I left Florida, sunny and 70 and landed to huge, beautiful snowflakes :)
It was a great weekend and I am so happy that I will be back in sunny Florida in one week!

Sorry for the Neglect

I have been neglecting my blog, and for that I am sorry.
The past weekend I got to go "home" to Ohio and spend some amazing time with family and my roommate Katie.
Friday Cassidy came down and picked Katie and I up and took us to Ohio. Friday night was filled with the sweet melody of David Crowder. It was an awesome concert and I can't even begin to thank my Uncle Mark for taking me! After the concert we went to Young's Dairy for some ice cream :)
Saturday Katie and I did homework. Bleh. Then Uncle Mark took us flying. It might have been the highlight of my month, maybe year. It was so cool to see where I used to live from a new angle. He flew me over the quary that I have wanted to see for my entire life and he flew us up to Columbus and over the Shoe. It was so awesome :)
Saturday night we had a cookout and just hung out with friends. Tristan and Matt came over and it was so good to see my best friend!
Sunday we went to church, then headed out so that we could get back to Asbury at a decent time. We made a pit stop in Lexington and Justin and Cassidy took us to a great pizza place called LA Gourmet. It was excellent and I can't wait to take my friends there :)
The weekend was soo good and I am so thankful to have an amazing family.
When we got back all Katie could say was "I love your family. I did not expect everyone to hug me." It just made me so happy to have such a loving an inviting family! :)
I can't wait till Thanksgving.
Oh only SEVEN DAYS until I am on a flight HOME to Florida :)

Fall Break and all its Goodness

This just makes me really happy.
This past weekend was Fall Break around Asbury. I don't even really see how they can call it Fall Break when we only got out on Friday. But I will take any day off that I can get!
I had the awesome opportunity to go home with a girl that lives on my hall.
She is such a sweetheart and we had such a great time. We took off Thursday afternoon and got to Cleveland around 8:00. I told her I did not care what time we got in, just as long as it was before 9:00 so that we would not miss the office. :) Friday we went to her old school and I met a massive amount of people. I am so glad that there was not a test after, because I would have failed it. Then we went to the mall. Somewhere that I had not been in a long time. It was a lot of fun and we found some great deals! Friday night we drove over to Stow and stayed with her best friend Katie. Katie is my twin. It was really weird how much we were a like and it totally freaked Jen out! :) Katie and I thought it was very amusing. Saturday was a lazy day, followed by some more shopping with Jens mom. Saturday night we headed of to Jen's friend, Mark's house to watch the OSU game. Which ended up being a very boring game to watch. But we had fun. I got to meet a lot more of her friends and hang out with some that I had met Friday night. Sunday we went to church then headed out around 3:00. Asbury was calling our name lol.
It was an awesome weekend and I am so thankful for friends and Jen for taking me home to meet her amazing family and friends! :)

I just want to leave you with this "Look, I can make Michigan bounce!" :)

Good News!

Today was a good day.
I was stressing majorly about this research paper that I have due on Monday. See I am going to Ohio this weekend and I am so very excited, and I did not want have to worry about it all weekend. So I have been running around all week trying to get the research done for it and start to write it. Well I was just walking through the Student Center and was stopped by some girls in my class where the research paper is due. They made me sit down because they said they had really good new. The good news was that our research papers are now not due until WEDNESDAY!!!! I know it's exciting right? I almost cried. Now I can relax this weekend and just enjoy being around family and friends and enjoying time away from the Asbury "bubble." :)
Anyways this was just something that made me smile.
Hope you are having a wonderful day!!!!

Zealous Class Hymn

I would just like to formally announce the Freshman class hymn.
A lot of people are angry about it. So what if it was the class of 2008's?
It is a GREAT hymn. My favorite by far. I am excited to be able to sing it for the next four years! :)

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
this Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! who took on flesh
Fulness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones he came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied -
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.

This is just one of the things that happened this weekend.
I had my first "I feel old moment."
Dad came to visit on Sunday and we went driving around Wilmore to kill time before church started. It took a whole ten minutes to see the whole town, lol.
We did drive past the site where the old Ichthus was located. Not only are all the buildings it bad shape, but the place where the concerts were is now a housing development. I was like, are you kidding me? There is an entire neighborhood right on top of the concert area.
It was just something that I could not believe. I still recognized where they would have the kid tent, which was ran by Teen Missions one year. I could also recognize where we camped and everything. It just goes to show that all over the world were are paving paradise and putting in parking lots.

The rest of the Sunday was great. We went to church, did laundry, ate lunch in the Caf, took a nap in the grass in the semi circle, climbed out on high bridge (which is illegal), went to Sonneys, and went to 608. It was a great day and I was so glad to get to spend it with my daddy!

Now im looking forward to this weekened coming up. Fall is my favorite season, and I love the Fall Festival. I was a little worried that it would not be cool for the festival but never fear it is supposed to be 65 on Friday! WOOHOO! :)
This week holds a lot of events and some stress but it will all be alright! :)

Robbie Seay Band :D

I would just like to point out that this is in fact THE Robbie Seay Band tour bus. And it is parked pretty much right in the middle of campus. This just made me laugh today when I was walking to class.
Today has been a glorious day!
It started out with Robbie Seay and 3/5 of the band leading worship in chapel, it was so good. Then Robbie's brother, Chris, spoke. He is the pastor of a church in Houston, which I really want to visit now. He was so funny. It was my far the best chapel so far of the semester!
So Katie and I signed up to be volunteers at the concert (we love being involved ;) and I am so glad we did. Not only did we get in free but we were in the front row. One major highlight of the night was that Robbie opened up with a Beatles cover, it was so good :)
The whole night was just so good. To just be praising God with so many others in one spot is always an awesome thing.
It was a great way to spend a friday night, I will leave you with this picture. Sorry for the quality, it was taken on my phone.

Rain is a great thing.

Today it rained for the first time in two months here in Wilmore.
Sure we have had some sprinkles here and there, but today when I walked out of my dorm I saw a puddle. Something that had become foreign to me. :)
We needed the rain so much. The Green, were events on campus are sometimes hosted, is a terrible shade of brown and to sit on it is painful. It almost cuts you. So the rain is a great thing, and I thank God for it :)

Sorry for the lack of lengthy posts. Things are just pretty crazy around here. I am counting down the days until the Fall Festival of Leaves and a chance to go "home" and relax with family and friends!

Stressed

Stresses is going to be the word main word in my life for the next few weeks. It seems like all of my professors started out slow and now they are on paper, project, and reading assigning rampages.
Its obnoxious.
So I guess I better stop complaining and get to work. :/

Camnesia

I miss this.
I have been in the process of writing a paper for a while about short-term missions vs. full-time missions.  It has brought up a lot of feelings and a lot of thoughts. I got the chance to read some really great books that talked about both subjects.
It just made me realize how much I miss Cambodia, Indonesia and Malaysia. God showed me so much this summer about how leadership is run and how to be responsible and to keep my head in stressful situations. Asia has my heart and I can't wait until I can go back
Just keep the staff and the whole countries of Cambodia and Indonesia in your prayers.
God is doing amazing things there!

Art and Caedmon's Call

I was sitting in drawing class the other day listening to music. It was the first day I had remembered to bring my iPod to class. It is a good thing because we sit and draw still life's for two hours at a time. It is pretty boring when you are just sitting in silence, which is the way it goes.  But I brought my iPod to class and wow did it make a difference.  I chose to listen to Caedmon's Call.

This band will always hold so much meaning.  I can remember living in Greenfield when I was about 5 or 6.  Dad had a wood shop in the basement of the girl's dorm (which sadly is no longer there :( ) and he would always be playing Caedmon's Call, on a cassette player. I would go there and help him, although I am sure I was not all that much help. I loved going there and smelling the wood and singing Caedmon's Call with my Dad.
That is why this band will always hold a special place in my heart.

So the point of this whole reflection is to tell you that as soon as I turned on my iPod the drawing just started t flow and I was no longer bored with it or dreading drawing this Still Life. It became a little bit fun!

Other than that things are good here, had a little break down the other night but I am doing alright now! =)

Hope you are having a wonderful week!

oh and if you have not listened to the newest CD by Caedmon's Call-go out and buy it. You will not be wasting your money! :)

I'll Stand....

I thought you might need a good laugh today! =)

Oh mondays.
I had a really good weekend. Friday was spent with Katie, Gabe, Sam, and Katie's friend Erin.  We rented the Salvation Army Student Center TV room to watch some movies. Gabe had never seen Forest Gump, which still blows my mind, so we watched it.  We also watched Anchorman, one of Will Farrels greatest's, I believe! =)
On Saturday Katie and I signed up to REACHOUT. We went to Evangelism Resources and painted some pillars and doors for the afternoon.  On Monday Katie and I will be joining IMPACT (the organization that hosts ReachOut and First Serve and other community service projects around campus)  We are really excited to get involved =)
After we were already really gross we decided to head up to the Luce to work out. We spent the rest of the day just being lazy and then her TAG group had a movie night so I went with her to that. It was a lot of fun- we watched Oceans 11. I had never watched it, but it was good!
Sunday was another lazy day, we didn't go to church in the morning.  I had TAG masquerade practice at 3:00- which was a blast, I can't wait until Thursday!
We went to 6:08 Sunday, and oh gosh it was soooo good =) The worship was so good and just what I needed.  We sang a song (I am not quite sure of the title) that we sang at a church we went to in Indonesia. Some of the lyrics go...
" I'll stand with arms high and heart abandoned, in all of the one who gave it all. I'll stand my heart LORD to you surrendered, all I am is yours."
I know it was not that long ago that I was there, but oh how quickly we forget about the things God has done for us.  I just closed my eyes and felt like I was back in Indonesia. It's such a blessing to be able to go on missions trips, I REALLY enjoy the summers overseas.
Thats pretty much for now. School was good today, I found out that I have two papers due next Monday so thats pretty smelly, but other than that it's all good here =)

Have a blessed day!

Thank Goodness it is Friday!

Words cannot explain how happy I am that it is friday. It has been a long week and I am really excited about relaxing this weekend and not having to worry about getting up early and make it to class. Speaking of making it to class, I have had a little trouble this week with my alarm system. On wednesday, I set my alarm for 7:30 and did not realize till the next morning when my roommate was saying my name that I had set my alarm for 7:30 P.M. and not a.m., ggrrrrrr. But I got out of bed and managed to make it to breakfast even. Where I found out that they have sandwich stuff out and you can pack a sandwich and some chips to take with you if you do not get lunch.  This is really handy for me considering that I do not get lunch on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. =( Alright so the other problem with my alarm was this morning. I set my alarm last night before going to bed. I made sure to set it to a.m. But again Katie woke me up and I looked at the clock and it was 8:20. I looked at my phone and realized that my phone had been on silent all night. I just laughed.  I rolled out of bed, did not make it to breakfast but oh well, life goes on.
As I type I am in Sociology, and before you freak out mom, it's ok.  lol. Were working on group projects and our group leader went to the library to type up our survey. So I am killing time =).
Yesterday was really good. I love my Tuesday and Thursday classes. I have Old Testament Survey at 12:45, which is an amazing time to have class. The class is not that exciting but as I read the book before class, it becomes more interesting and it helps me to pay attention.  The professor has a lot of knowledge and I really want to be ably to retain all of it.  Right after that I have Ministry and Mission.  This class rocks my socks OFF. haha. I really do love this class. We just got done reading an amazing book, Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire. It just talked about how the church is in need of a dramatic change.  The author takes us through his struggles as he took over as pastor in a New York City church.  He tells us about all the struggles he had as a pastor and how the church grew so much that they had to move out of the small church into a big church with 4 services.  It is a great story on what God can do, and how much we need to rely on prayer.
Today should be a good day.  Im getting ready to go to chapel. After that I have my terrible intro to drawing class, and then Expos and Research. I have a quiz in this class today but do not worry I studied =).  After that I am chilling out haha. Katie, Gabe, Sam, Katies friend Erin and I are all heading to the sally center around 9:00 to watch Forest Gump. Gabe has never seen it, can you believe that? I know it is CAAARRRRZZZYYY.
Alright well I better head to chapel, don't want to be late =)
Have an amazing day!

IM BACK! lol

I have not updated this blog in a very long time, so it thought I would start back and keep updated about my college days lol. It's going to be really exciting so hold on!

Let me just start by saying that I love Asbury College. I can for sure tell that it is where God wanted me be.  The people here are so friendly and genuine, always smiling and ready to talk to you.  They are really interested in how your day is going and what is going on in your life. I have met so many new people and I am really excited to get to spend four years here! =)

Ill update more later, right now chapel is about to start.

Have a wonderful day
